400 donated instruments have arrived in Haiti - WOW!

BLUME Haiti is widely recognized as THE primary organization involved in developing, expanding and strengthening the music education ecosystem throughout Haiti. Thanks to the generosity of many, about 400 donated instruments have arrived in Cap Haitian and our dedicated team is hard at work, sorting, organizing, and repairing these instruments to make them available to music programs across the country.

Some of the instruments waiting either to be sent to music schools across the country or to be repaired.

These instruments will make a significant impact, ensuring that music schools throughout Haiti will have an infusion of instruments, bringing joy, inspiration and possibility to aspiring musicians.

However, amidst this positive momentum, there's a particular program that holds a special place in our hearts—the Nick Contorno Music School in Gonaives.

September 15, 2022 was a day that saw demonstrations across Haiti. In addition to looting at the World Food Program and Caritas warehouses in Gonaives, the Nick Contorno Music School was also impacted and essentially ALL of their instruments were either stolen or smashed.

Men anpil fè chay pa lou - many hands make the load light. In this time of need, people from all over the country contributed to ensure that the Nick Contorno Music School will receive enough instruments to restart their band and orchestra programs. This is an incredible achievement, and it's all thanks to the compassion and commitment of so many to making a positive difference - MÈSI ANPIL!

The first load arrived! One down, two more to go.

These businesses went above and beyond with very generous donations and support

MÈSI ANPIL!

Some instruments were damaged in transit but, thanks to our collaborations with Luthiers without Borders and Music Fund, there are highly competent luthiers and band instrument technicians in Haiti. These instruments will be out the door and into the hands of young musicians in no time!

Tchoupy, a master luthier as well as teacher, composer, and band leader, will ensure that all of the string instruments are well set up.
